Police Blocked From Arresting ‘Pastor’ Wanjohi in Ksh.600M Job Scam Case

James Wanjohi, a prominent city pastor and businessman, has been given an anticipatory bail of Ksh.100,000. The court has also prohibited the police from arresting or detaining him in connection with a fraud case.

The court mentioned that the ODPP, DCI, and police are still free to investigate or charge him as they see fit.

In the case, Wanjohi is accused of collecting over Ksh.600 million by deceiving 4,000 Kenyans with promises of visas for international travel.

In court documents submitted by his attorney Danstan Omari, he has disputed the accusations.

He stated that he has not broken any laws in the country and has never been associated with any criminal activity.

“His imminent and unjustified arrest without arrest nor search warrants against him is a clear breach of due process,” read court papers.

On April 24, the police in Nairobi conducted a raid at the offices of Worthstart Africa in Pension Towers. This action followed complaints from victims who reported being scammed by Wanjohi, a director at the company, and losing significant amounts of money.

Wanjohi dismissed the accusations in a video viewed by Gossipa2z.com on Tuesday, claiming he is being targeted by a political witch-hunt driven by his adversary.

“I know this is a political witch-hunt and business rivalry and I know I have rattled some businessmen and women who feel that they should cut my legs as of now so that I stop progressing,” he said.

“I am aware that there are some politicians who are not sleeping because they are scared of me.”

Wanjohi explained that he is no longer a preacher at Jesus Culture Ministry because he left to establish his own company, which has been in operation for less than a year.

He contended that handling 4,000 clients since starting his business is not feasible, suggesting that competitors aim to damage his company’s image.

“I ceased being the pastor of Jesus Culture Ministries in 2022 and if the section of the media continues to insist that I am a pastor I would like them to go interview my church members. Let them show the public an interview of my church going on. There is no such church. My work is to build churches as I hand them over,” he said.

“I did not process 4,000 clients which is even barely a year my goodness. We will be celebrating our first anniversary next month May 17th as a company.”
