    BBC Sacks Top Kenyan Journalists

Anne Ngugi and Judith Wambare have been dismissed from their positions at BBC Africa by the British Broadcasting Corporation.

In a message to staff on Sunday, April 21, obtained by Gossipa2z.com, the BBC announced that the two experienced journalists will no longer be working for the international media organization.

The media organization stated that they would provide additional information about the dismissal at a later time.

โ€œAnne Ngugi and Judith Wambare have been terminated from BBC. An official communication will be shared later. If you have any queries or you want any clarification kindly do contact HR,โ€ the message reads in part.

Ngugi, formerly with K24 TV, became part of the BBC team in May 2018. Conversely, Wambare started working at the media outlet in 2016.

Meanwhile, the BBC has elevated Robert Kiptoo to the position of Senior Broadcast Journalist (SBJ), where he will oversee the Dira ya Dunia radio show, and Carolyne Robi to the role of Senior Radio Presenter.

Kiptoo has worked at the BBC for 14 years, whereas Robi has been with the organization for five years.

The BBC has appointed Phyllis Mwatee to a permanent position. She worked as a freelance journalist for the company from 2018 to 2022.

Before joining the service, Beldeen Waliaula spent the last four years working at KTN as a news anchor and health reporter before being recruited by the BBC.

Mwatee and Waliaula will operate out of the BBC Africa studio located in Nairobi. Meanwhile, Sammy Awami, who previously worked with the BBC as a bilingual reporter from 2015 to 2020, will rejoin as a journalist stationed in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
