Armed Thugs Beat up, Rob Female Cop Guarding Govt Official’s Office in Vihiga

On Friday, April 19, shortly after beginning their shift at the County Commissioner’s office in Vihiga County, two police officers were confronted and robbed by armed criminals.

As reported by Gossipa2z.com based on a police statement, the female Administration Police Officer and her colleagueย were confrontedย by two armed criminals attempting to gain entry.

Despite this, the two officers stationed at the Commissioner’s office refused to let the pair enter, resulting in a confrontation.

A suspect assaulted the female officer using a sharp tool, causing significant injuries to the right side of her head.

Her coworker, who attempted to step in, was struck on the head with a stone as well.

After the confrontation, the attackers took the female officer’s loaded rifle, which contained one magazine and 25 bullets.

The thugs fled the scene, leaving the two injured officers in their wake.

Shortly after the incident, the Vihiga Sub-County Police Commander,ย along withย the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU) Commander and the Officer in Charge at Mbale Station, arrived at the scene to investigate and record the events that occurred.

The two officers were quickly taken to Vihiga County Referral Hospital for immediate medical treatment.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers are in pursuit of the robbers,” read part of the report.

The event illustrates the increasing insecurity throughout the country, where criminals are even targeting police officers.

The most recent report from the National Council for Administration Justice (NCAJ) shows that in the 2022/23 fiscal year, 97,301 crimes were reported, up from 85,539 in 2021/22.
