Ruto Named Among 100 Most Influential People Globally
TIME Magazine included President William Ruto in its list of the 100 most influential individuals globally on Wednesday.
The Head of State was mentioned together with another individual from Kenya, Kennedy Odede, a philanthropist who serves as the founder and CEO of Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO).
TIME magazine explained their choice to feature the Kenyan President by highlighting Ruto’s significant role in advocating for Africa’s climate goals and noting his increasing influence on the international platform.
The publicationโs senior correspondent Justin Worland wrote: “His (Ruto’s) call for lenders to relieve the debt burden faced by some African countries, thus opening the door for spending on climate solutions, has made waves.”

“But Rutoโs new prominence on the international stage comes amid significant challenges in Kenya, including last summerโs protests against the rising cost of living and a gas-tax increase Ruto spearheaded, as well as this Januaryโs demonstrations against allegations of judicial interference.”
Worland added: โTo continue to make progress abroad, Ruto will need to manage challenges at home too.โ
The list also acknowledged other influential Africans who have contributed to humanity across various fields.
This year’s roster comprises 51 women, among them Kylie Minogue, Dua Lipa, Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Alia Bhatt, Lauren Groff, and Kelly Ripa.
More than twelve performers are showcased, including Elliot Page, Burna Boy, Dua Lipa, 21 Savage, Jeffrey Wright, Kylie Minogue, Fantasia Barrino, America Ferrera, and Maya Rudolph.
President Ruto has once again been acknowledged on a global scale by TIME magazine, marking not the initial instance of such recognition. Last year, the renowned US publication also honored Ruto for his efforts in advocating for climate change awareness.
