Ruto Unveils Game Plan for Haiti Police Deployment Amid New Twist
On Saturday, April 13, President William Ruto declared the official formation of Haiti’s nine-person Presidential Transitional Council.
Ruto stated that the decision exemplified the boldness and selfless dedication of the Haitian Cabinet Council in striving for a peaceful Haiti.
“We look forward to the PTC moving with speed to appoint the Prime Minister and Cabinet,” the head of state noted in his statement.
President Ruto praised the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leadership for their strong guidance during the extensive discussions that resulted in the formation of a transitional council.

“Kenya expresses confidence that the new political leadership will lay a strong foundation for resolution of the crisis in Haiti, restoration of security, afford the Haitian people a political transition,” Ruto stated.
The leader emphasized Kenya’s firm support for Haiti and its willingness to participate as outlined in the 2023 United Nations Security Council Resolution 2699.
In addition to Ruto’s recognition, individuals familiar with the situation mentioned that the official announcement did not identify the new members of the council.
Additional reports indicate that there hasn’t been any announcement regarding the precise timing for the establishment of the council or the replacement of Prime Minister Ariel Henry.
