Ruto’s Nominee for Ambassadorial Role in Ghana Vincent Mogaka Rejects the Job
On Tuesday, April 9, Vincent Mogaka Kemosi announced that he would decline the nomination as the Kenyan High Commissioner to Accra, Ghana.
Kemosi, scheduled for parliamentary vetting on Tuesday, communicated to the Clerk of the National Assembly expressing his decision to decline the position.
The ex-representative of West Mugirango explained in his correspondence that family matters were the cause for declining the task.
“I want to give my appreciation for the invitation to appear before the Departmental Committee on Defence Intelligence and Foreign Relations, I wish to inform you that I will not appear before the said Committee for approval,” his letter read in part.
“This has been occasioned by my personal and compelling family matters which after taking into consideration will not allow me to take up the position of High Commissioner to Ghana.”
In his correspondence, Mogaka also mentioned that to streamline the vetting process and save time for the committee, he would not be present in person at the Parliament Buildings for the vetting session.

The National Assembly Committee on Defense Intelligence and Foreign Relations acknowledged his choice to abstain from appearing before them, proceeding to assess other ambassadors and high commissioners appointed by the President.
Mogaka didn’t disclose whether he had informed President William Ruto about his choice to decline the assignment.
On March 8, President William Ruto selected Vincent Mogaka Kemosi to serve as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Kenya.
Mogaka was unsuccessful in retaining his position as a Member of Parliament for West Mugirango in the 2022 elections, having contested under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) banner.
In March 2023, Ruto designated Mogaka as the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) within the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry.
Later in the same month, he was sworn into office but refrained from assuming his position as CAS following a court ruling that deemed the entire process of appointing CASs unconstitutional.
