DJ Mfalme Off the Hook in DCI Officer Felix Kitosi’s Murder: Here is Why

DJ Joe Mfalme, also known as Joseph Mwenda Munoru, along with five others, are set to testify for the state in the murder trial of police officer Felix Kelian Kitosi. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has determined that they are not implicated in the murder due to lack of evidence.

Nevertheless, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has instructed that Allan Ochieng, also known as Hype Ballo, his hypeman, face charges related to the killing of the DCI officer.

“After investigations, police have recommended that Allan Ochieng be prosecuted over the death of Kitosi,” a prosecutor told the Kibera Magistrate on Monday.

As a result, law enforcement authorities have shut down an assorted application dossier that involved DJ Joe Mfalme, his associates, and several police personnel under scrutiny for the homicide case.

Three law enforcement officers are under scrutiny as potential suspects in the alleged killing of a veteran detective associated with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). This development follows a two-week investigation led by DCI prosecutor Renson Mulele.

โ€œODPP has further recommended that the 1st accused Allan Ochieng be charged with the murder of the late senior cop that was attached to DCI Dagoretti. The ODPP has recommended Allan Ochieng to take a plea at Kiambu Law Court and be charged with murder,โ€ ODDP said.

Last month, it was reported that the detective passed away under enigmatic circumstances in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.

The trio of officers was apprehended after the demise of the Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) officer affiliated with the Dagoretti sub-county DCI branch.

Three officers from the Traffic Department, comprising two males and one female, were apprehended after the officer’s demise and held in custody at Riruta Police Station.

As per the police report, Kitosi passed away after being attacked following a traffic collision. The report refrains from specifying any identities or details regarding the assault’s circumstances.

โ€œIt was reported today the 22nd March 2024 at around 1600hrs by one Reinhard Kitosi, the brother to the deceased that no.241451 Inspector of Police Felix Kelian Kitosi of DCI Dagoretti had passed on while undergoing treatment at Nairobi West Hospital.

“The deceased had been involved in a non-injury traffic accident within Kikuyu market near Kikuyu police station on Saturday, at about 0400hrs. He had earlier complained of abdominal pains and was on treatment. Preliminary investigations reveal that he was assaulted by known persons after an altercation over the non-injury road traffic accident (sic),โ€ the police report said.

The apprehension of individuals associated with Kitosi’s demise prompted inquiries about the rationale behind the police’s delay of six days before initiating action against the four suspects.

Last month, the performer and his crew were doing a show at a bustling club along Thika Road when they were apprehended by law enforcement officers during the night.

A confrontation broke out when Kitosi’s vehicle accidentally scraped the car owned by the DJ while he was exiting the parking lot.

The bouncers subsequently approached the police officer, extracted him from the vehicle, and purportedly subjected him to physical assault through kicking and punching.

They allege that the officer was subsequently transported to Kikuyu Police Station where he endured physical abuse at the hands of fellow police personnel while being detained.

His condition worsened, prompting urgent transfer to Lang’ata Hospital, and subsequently to Nairobi West Hospital, where he passed away.

The police report confirmed his participation in an accident where he was attacked. Reinhard, the brother of the deceased officer, filed the report.

The nightclub management stated that the alleged incident did not occur on their premises and they were unaware of its happening.

โ€œI can assure you that the incident never took place within the club. Just follow the matter well and you will know the truth. If it had happened here then we could have resolved the issue,โ€ the manager said.
