Another Haiti Gang Leader Alias New York, Killed in Fierce Shootout With Police
On Tuesday, another prominent Haiti gang leader, widely recognized as New York, was fatally shot in a violent confrontation with members of the Haiti National Police, along with four of his associates.
The event transpired following the gang’s seizure of a local hospital in Petion-Ville, a neighborhood adjacent to Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince.
As per reports from a Haitian news source, it was alleged that the gang had seized control of the hospital as a measure of self-protection against law enforcement.
After assuming control of the hospital, a confrontation ensued between law enforcement and the gang, resulting in the deaths of four gang members in a shootout.
Law enforcement officers escalated their endeavors to apprehend the gang, ultimately resulting in the fatal shooting of the gang leader, New York, resulting in his instantaneous death.
The mission was supported by a coalition comprising civilians and law enforcement officers, collectively striving to eradicate the influence of criminal gangs.

The most recent killing occurred two weeks after another gang chief named Makandal was fatally shot during a confrontation with Haitian police in the streets.
As per accounts, the leader of the gang met his demise when city dwellers collaborated with law enforcement to confront both him and his accomplices.
Shortly after the group was eradicated, the locals proceeded to ignite their corpses. Additionally, they set fire to the dwelling of the gang leader.
Likewise, the advancements occur amidst a caution issued by another gang leader, Jimmy Chérizier, known as “Barbecue,” to Kenyan military and law enforcement before their deployment.
Barbecue asserted that he would perceive the Kenyan police as hostile forces and intruders, affirming his steadfast refusal to yield, as he perceived their arrival as a threat to Haiti’s sovereignty.
“We will consider them as invaders and we do not have to collaborate with any invaders that have come to walk over our independence,” Barbecue warned.
