3 Hardcore Criminals Taken Out Few Hours After Ruto Order
Several hours following President William Ruto’s directive for the Interior Ministry to persist in addressing banditry in North Rift, law enforcement officials successfully neutralized three notorious criminals who had been instilling fear among residents in Turkana County.
In a statement issued by the National Police Service (NPS) on Sunday, March 31, it was revealed that one of the individuals shot on Saturday was responsible for orchestrating most of the assaults in the North Rift region.
The second perpetrator was being pursued in connection to a murder case involving a law enforcement officer, while the third individual was recognized as closely affiliated with the first two.
“A shootout between NPS Officers from Loima and suspected bandits at Kangalita in Kalemnyang left 3 of the suspects fatally wounded,” the statement read in part.
NPS identified one of the criminals as a gang leader facing three ongoing court cases for charges including armed robbery, sexual assault, and making threats of violence.

“He has also been under investigation for a series of unresolved violent crimes, including highway robberies stock-theft, and possession of illicit firearms for hire within Loima Sub-County,” it was revealed.
The second outlaw was disclosed to have been a trusted confidant and assistant to the leader of the gang.
According to reports, he earned the nickname Sharpshooter and has been evading capture since the fatal shooting of a police officer in Kangalita three years ago.
Furthermore, it is suspected that he launched a surprise attack on a member of the OCS stationed at Lorugum on December 28, 2023, resulting in physical injury.
The third robber was recognized as a 21-year-old who was working alongside the other two criminals.
The National Park Service (NPS) disclosed that they found an AK47 rifle with a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition, as well as expended cartridges, at the location.
In a discussion alongside Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and police authorities, President Ruto declared a shift in approach towards addressing the long-standing issue of cattle rustling and banditry in the North Rift region.
