The government has instructed all Ministries, State Departments, and State Corporations or Agencies to reduce their spending immediately.
In a memo, Felix Koskei, the Head of Public Service, instructed those offices to enhance their efficiency by streamlining any non-essential spending according to the guidelines provided by the National Treasury.
Following this, the procurement, printing, and production of corporate wear, including t-shirts, shirts, tracksuits, and branded clothing, has been suspended.
To cease, Koskei also mandated the halting of promotional item purchases.
โSuspend and immediately cease the purchase of promotional merchandise such as calendars, diaries, umbrellas, power banks, key holders, bags, flasks, cups, branded traditional blankets (shukas) and notebooks,โ he noted.
All departments have been instructed to ensure the complete enforcement of the austerity measures to safeguard spending on social development.
