I Apologise to All I Wronged, Including Raila- CS Kuria
Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Delivery, has mirrored Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s actions by offering an apology to Azimio leader Raila Odinga for negative comments he made about him during the election campaign.
On Monday, Gachagua issued an apology to former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta, expressing regret for what he characterized as disrespectful conduct towards her during the tense political atmosphere preceding the 2022 general election.
On Tuesday, Kuria stated that the Deputy President had established a precedent by kickstarting reconciliation efforts, emphasizing that this was the sole means to unite the nation.
“I want to thank and laud Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for leading in the rallying call on forgiveness. To those I have aggrieved in the past, including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who I called on the same, I offer my unreserved due apologies. Let us focus our energies on nation-building,” Kuria said.
Kuria expressed his thoughts at Kaibaga in Nyandarua County during the funeral of Mama Dorcas Muhihu, who was the mother of Bishop JJ Gitahi.
The Deputy President was in attendance.
The relationship between the CS and Raila has been characterized by both positive and negative aspects, with Kuria once stating that it would be foolish to believe they are enemies.
During an appearance on Citizen TV’s JK Live on October 8, 2023, Kuria, who held the position of Trade CS at the time, remarked that he maintained a positive rapport with Raila outside of political matters. However, their only area of disagreement stemmed from the mass protests instigated by the Azimio leader at that time.
“I do not know how on earth someone could come between me and Raila Odinga. If you try to come between me and Raila Odinga, you will be a fool, because he is my friend,” Kuria said.
“I only said what I said about those people who were demonstrating,” Kuria explained when questioned on his vile remarks against Raila.
On Monday, during his apology to Mama Ngina, Gachagua appealed to the former first lady to pardon those who disrespected her during the intense political period.

The DP spoke during an interview with Kameme FM at his Karen home.
At the beginning of the previous year, Mama Ngina defended her family against allegations that suggested the former first family avoided tax payments during her son Uhuru Kenyatta’s time in the presidency.
She refuted the accusations and, on February 5, 2023, challenged the government to take legal action, asserting her transparency regarding fulfilling her tax responsibilities.
“Hakuna haja ya kuharibia wengine majina na mimi ndio watu wasikike wanafanya kazi. Hapana, mtu ashtakiwe, alipe kile anatakiwa kulipa,” Mama Ngina said during a church function in Lamu.

While speaking at Kaibaga, Gachagua reaffirmed the importance of forgiveness and asked Kenyans to resolve their political differences peacefully.
He regretted last weekend’s incident where supporters of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya clashed with those of Ford Kenya leader and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula during a burial ceremony.
Gachagua described the incident as retrogressive.
