Ruto Calls Out CSs Directly Defying His Directive, Issues Ultimatum
On Thursday, President William Ruto voiced his dissatisfaction when Cabinet Secretaries did not follow his directives regarding the countrywide tree planting initiative.
Addressing attendees at the unveiling of the Medium Term Plan IV at State House in Nairobi, the President emphasized that every Cabinet Secretary had been tasked with overseeing tree planting initiatives in two counties.
Ruto stated that the Cabinet Secretaries were directed to outline and present their plans and tactics for ensuring the project’s success.
Nevertheless, the leader mentioned that they had not yet been provided with any substantial strategies or plans from the Cabinet Secretaries regarding the nationwide program.
President William Ruto was displeased with the Cabinet Secretaries’ inaction and expressed his disapproval.
“Every Cabinet Minister has already been assigned 2 counties and we will be expecting clarity. Every Cabinet Secretary and their team are doing on the tree planting exercise,” Ruto stated.

“I note with a bit of concern that I am yet to receive any meaningful strategy and plan from Cabinet Secretaries,” he added.
Ruto stated that the Cabinet Secretary’s role was to enable the planting of approximately 400 million to 600 million trees in every county.
When addressing the issue, the Head of State urged every minister to ensure they promptly submit their plan before the onset of the long rains, as forecasted by the meteorologist.
“I will be expecting that every Cabinet Secretary will mobilize tree seedlings, communities, private sector, development partners, and friends to participate in this excess in each county,” Ruto stated.
Ruto suggests that embracing sustainable climate measures not only tackles challenges but also offers opportunities for shifting towards a more environmentally friendly economy.
William Ruto also disclosed that the tree-planting initiative had the additional goal of safeguarding the nation’s vital water sources from depletion.
