David Ndii Gushes Over Wife – But Uses Downloaded Photos Raising Eyebrows

Commending your partner publicly on the internet has become a widely embraced practice, but it raises some eyebrows when you’ve also saved their pictures in the course of doing so.

While attempting to clear the air on who he dates, President William Ruto’s advisor David Ndii shared photos of his wife Mwende Gatabaki, captioning, “I date this babe. Exclusively.”

There’s no issue with that. However, Kenyans on X felt a bit uneasy about him posting downloaded pictures of his wife instead of using unique photos from his phone’s camera roll.

Ndii’s public affirmation of loyalty to his spouse brought to mind the notable moment when former President Mwai Kibaki held a press conference to explicitly state that he was committed to his sole spouse, Lucy Kibaki.

The distinguished economist unleashed a flurry of tweets in response to a user’s suggestion that Ndii was romantically involved with a certain influencer.

Unusually, Ndii responded to the tweet inquiring about the identity of the mentioned influencer.

Shortly thereafter, he began posting pictures of his spouse, with two seemingly sourced from Google, and one even featuring ‘The Standard’ watermark.

Right away, individuals flooded the comment section, questioning the reason behind him posting Google photos when he could easily access his phone gallery to share pictures of his own wife.

One X user commented, “You went to Google, searched your wife’s name then clicked on images, found one with Standard Group watermark, downloaded it then posted on Twitter with the caption “I date this babe. Exclusively”. Wow! “

Refusing to back down in the face of an online conflict, Ndii proceeded to share another tweet, this time including four nostalgic pictures of the couple from their dating era.

He captioned it, “I see people wondering why I am googling photos of my one and only. Try this. Githunguri 1985, Gilgil 1987, Manchester 1991, Florence Italy 2001.”

However, the critics persisted, consistently asking why he hadn’t shared any recent pictures.

One user asked, “Some of these photos are from close to 40 years ago! Why don’t you have a recent photo of the woman you claim to date ‘exclusively’? This tweet has actually worsened matters. You could have just ignored the concerns and moved on with your life!”

However, amid the barrage of criticism, some stood up for the economist with one person writing, “The goal is to marry a lady who is such a big shot in her line of work that you don’t even bother taking her pics since the media does it for you for free. Big Flex if you ask meโ€ฆ”

Ndii agreed with the sentiment, replying, “That’s been lost to manyโ€ฆ”
