Lost & Found: Busia Teen Emerges from 2023 Mystery, Resurfaces in KNH Morgue with Hefty KSh 250k Bill
The remains of Violet Olinga, aged 26, have been at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) morgue since 2023, and her family is unable to arrange for her burial.
Violet hails from the village of Kengatuny, situated in the Okilidu sub-location within the Ochude location in Teso South Sub-county, Busia County.
According to Michael Obwaku, the father, his daughter departed from home in 2022 to find employment in Nairobi, as reported by Gossipa2z.com.
She obtained one, but in June of that year, she vanished from the broadcasting scene, and attempts to locate her proved fruitless.
“Her landlord in Githurai 44 looked for the family and told us Violet left her door open and supper uneaten before going missing,” he said.
The desperate quest they embarked on concluded sadly when an online post revealed the presence of an unidentified girl in the mortuary.

Upon inquiry, the family discovered that Violet admitted herself to the facility on August 8, underwent a cesarean section the following day, and unfortunately passed away on the subsequent day.
She departed, leaving behind the newborn boy she brought into the world, named Favor Imosi. However, the hospital was unable to locate the family, so they assumed responsibility for the care of the infant.
“We recently managed to get the baby, but now our mortuary bill stands at KSh 168,000, and we are unable to raise it,” the grieving father said.
Apart from the morgue bill, there’s a pending ward charge of KSh 73,000 and other costs like KSh 85,000 for transporting the body to Busia 85k, baby care, and the burial at KSh 300,000.
Michael mentioned that their original intention was to conduct the burial on Saturday, March 10. However, the pending bill prevented them from proceeding with the plan.
