Oscar Sudi Declares Interest in Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial Seat
On Sunday, March 10, Oscar Sudi, the Member of Parliament for Kapseret, announced his intention to contest the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial position currently occupied by Jonathan Bii Chelilim.
Addressing attendees at a fundraising event held at the AIC Fellowship Annex in Eldoret, within Kesses Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, Sudi asserted that he possessed ample experience to take on a leadership role in the county.
He mentioned that to promote harmony and tranquility in Uasin Gishu, he intends to wait until Chelilim completes his two terms before entering the competition.
The Member of Parliament remarked that 2027 would mark his final attempt to run for office as an MP. If he succeeds, he will have served as the representative for Kapseret for a total of twenty years.
Oscar Sudi took pride in resolving political conflicts and fostering unity among leaders in Uasin Gishu County.

“I am a real engineer although many people think it is a joke but I make many connections (political),” he joked.
He mentioned that Chelilim, Julius Bitok (formerly vying for governorship and currently serving as the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Immigration and Citizen Services), and Jackson Mandago (Senator) were united in supporting his intervention, speaking with a single voice.
He clarified his strategy for becoming a governor by expressing his intention to discourage Bitok from making another attempt at the gubernatorial role.
He clarified his intention to meet with the trio and advocate for Bitok to assume the position of Cabinet Secretary in 2027.
“We will push Chelilim to finish his term and go home and then I come in,” he declared his interest.
He further mentioned that he anticipates the leaders to back him in the same manner he has been backing them throughout the years.
