Watch: Emotional Video of Mr Ibu in His Last Days Emerges
A video clip of the late Nigerian actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, speaking affectionately about singer Rude Boy before his death has surfaced on social media.
In the video shared by P-Square band artist Rude Boy on Instagram, the late actor was heard praising Rude Boy and thanking him for his support.
He spoke about meeting the singer in heaven after life on earth and dining together with angels.
“Rudeboy! Oh my God! I don’t know where to start my language. But everything happens in God’s own time. When the time comes, it has come,” Mr Ibu spoke to Rude Boy from his hospital bed.
He added, “Rudeboy if you don’t make it to heaven, call me nama [meat]. You will go to heaven, and we will sit in front of the angels and eat together. Your life will not remain the same. People will be talking about you today, ‘What happened? But Ibu and P-Square, they are not the same parents.’ But I tell them, parents don’t come.”
In the recorded video from the hospital, the 62-year-old entertainer appeared frail as he lay on the sick bed. He had tubes connecting to his body for medication.
Mr Ibu died from a heart attack on March 2, 2024.

The comedian breathed his last at the Evercare Hospital in Nigeria on a Saturday, reportedly passing away while unconscious.
His health issues became public knowledge in October last year when his family shared a video on social media, showing the Nollywood star celebrating his birthday from his hospital bed.
In the video, he appealed to his fans for assistance with medical bills, leading to widespread support.
In his plea, he said, “Dear good people of Nigeria, we rely on your help at this time when we need it the most… As I speak to you, I am still admitted to the hospital; the medical director of this hospital said the best solution if his new idea doesn’t work, the best idea is to amputate my leg.”
Mr Okafor gained fame two decades ago with the Nigerian comedy “Mr Ibu,” which later became his identity.
The film is still considered one of the best comedy shows in the Nigerian film industry.
Throughout his career spanning over two decades, he continued to participate in many other renowned Nollywood films.
