Former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru’s Church Demolished

Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, a former candidate for the Nairobi Governor position, voiced her dismay on Wednesday when an unidentified group intruded upon her church, Jesus is Alive Ministries, situated along the Haile Selassie Highway, and initiated its demolition.

Addressing reporters, the experienced clergyman accused the government of orchestrating the demolition for political purposes.

“I wasn’t campaigning to be repaid like this. Sadly, this is the government that we campaigned for,” Wanjiru claimed.

“I am yet to believe that they can do this to me. I am the one who sold UDA in Nairobi,” she added.

Wanjiru claimed that the individuals dispatched to dismantle the wall of her church assaulted them, took their phones, and then carried out their tasks.

When recounting the incident, the preacher stated that she sustained serious injuries while attempting to protect the initiative, and she intends to seek medical attention at the hospital.

As per the religious figure, the individuals tasked with demolition asserted that they were authorized by the Managing Director of Kenya Railways to dismantle the church wall, citing its construction on government-owned property as the reason.

“There is a God in Heaven. If the Kenya Kwanza government can dare touch my property, what about the helpless civilians?” Wanjiru questioned.

“Where will we go if our government is fighting us? Where are we going to run?”

While the demolitions persisted, a group of law enforcement officers arrived at the location to bolster the operation and ensure there were no potential disruptions.

Before today’s event, the demolition team arrived at the church grounds on February 10th but couldn’t start demolishing because there was a wedding ceremony underway.

“It is because the court case is coming up, so they are trying to protect themselves. They are trying to cover up themselves which won’t work,” she claimed.
