On Sunday, February 25, Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, expressed disapproval of televangelist Benny Hinn’s position on the Middle East conflict.
In a social media update, the Cabinet Secretary criticized the sermons given by the pastor during a crusade that was attended by President William Ruto and his family.

CS Kuria stated that Benny Hinn, with a background connected to both Israel and Palestine, embraced a biased perspective on the conflict that has affected the region.
Kuria also questioned the circumstances leading to this, given that Benny Hinn made the remarks during the Nyayo crusade, which was a semi-official state event.
“Kenya continues to call for a cessation of hostilities even as we show solidarity with Israel over the October 7 terror attacks,” he remarked.
He further stated that Kenya endorsed the self-determination rights of the Palestinian people.
The clergyman, born in Jaffa, Israel in 1952, has frequently advocated for peace in the region.
The televangelist, born to parents with Greek, Palestinian, and Armenian roots, initiated his spiritual journey by being baptized in Jerusalem.
Kenya’s Foreign Policy on Middle East Affairs
In October 2023, President William Ruto expressed strong disapproval of the attacks carried out by the extremist group Hamas on Israeli territory.
“Kenya joins the rest of the world in solidarity with the State of Israel and unequivocally condemns terrorism and attacks on innocent civilians in the country,” he stated then.
During a November 2023 gathering of African leaders with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, President William Ruto endorsed the concept of a two-state resolution.
This point was emphasized again on February 1 in a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
