Deadline Extended: Kenya’s KUCCPS Faces Portal Woes
Once more, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has prolonged the application deadline for courses due to ongoing issues with the portal.
In a notice issued on Sunday, April 25, the placement service declared that it would prolong the application period until further notice, ensuring that all eligible students have the opportunity to apply.
The deadline for submitting applications was previously scheduled for Monday, February 26th.
“The application deadline, which was set for February 26, 2024, has been extended until KUCCPS ascertains that all targeted students have applied,” read the statement in part.
“During the ongoing application process, every student is a first-time applicant since KUCCPS discontinued applications at the school level.”
The service also advised students to be cautious about making double payments, as this could prolong the verification process. This caution comes as a result of the government consolidating all its pay bill services under a single number.
“Since payments for Government services have been migrated to the eCitizen platform, the process of payment validation for the KUCCPS application is longer than before. Applicants are advised to avoid making double payments,” added the statement.
“The processing of applications for placement will start once KUCCPS is sure all applicants have submitted their course choices based on the targeted number of students. Therefore, no one will be disadvantaged based on the day or time they made their applications.”
KUCCPS additionally stated that following the initial placement process, there will be two chances for students who haven’t applied or haven’t secured their desired courses to submit their applications again.

This is the second occasion the service has declared a prolongation following its inability to rectify issues with its system for students.
During that period, Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome, the CEO of KUCCPS, emphasized in a statement that every student would secure spots in tertiary institutions, and she extended the deadline until February 26th.
“I take this opportunity to assure all those seeking training opportunities through the KUCCPS portal that no one will be left behind,” he stated.
Parents and students expressed dissatisfaction with how the application procedure was significantly impacted by the payment processing delay.
“Error: Please wait for the payment to reflect to complete the application,” the site read after payment was done, halting the process temporarily,” one user complained.
“But this extension will be useless if the system does not improve, imagine trying to apply one application for the last few days without success,” the user added.
