Ruto Gifts Kelvin Kiptum Another House Under Affordable Housing Program, Promises Wife a Job
On Friday, President William Ruto pledged to provide marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum with an additional residence as a token of appreciation.
During the funeral service for Kiptum, the president mentioned that the residence built as part of the affordable housing initiative will be registered in the name of Asenath Rotich, his wife.
Ruto mentioned that the government fulfilled its pledge by providing a Ksh5 million donation to the family of the deceased, as previously committed.
“Just the way we had said, we have already given the family Ksh5 million and now the government will give him another new house beside the house we have built here and it will belong to his wife,” Ruto announced.
While mourning the deceased, Ruto termed Kiptum as a man with a great heart and that his untimely death was a message to all Kenyans.
Ruto described Kiptum as someone who possessed ambition, discipline, and focus. Despite originating from a modest background, his dedication and effort brought him recognition.

“He worked against the odds. In Kelvin, we saw the future of athletics in Kenya. He stood out not only as a great athlete but more importantly as a good person. He was ambitious, disciplined, and focused,” Ruto narrated.
Experienced athletes were also urged to take on the responsibility of overseeing emerging athletes to prevent tragic occurrences like the premature passing of Kelvin Kiptum.
President William Ruto’s recent action of gifting a new house to Kiptum’s wife follows closely on the heels of his directive to have engineers construct a three-bedroom house at Kiptum’s residence, which was issued just a week prior.
Ruto instructed the specialists to build the house within a week before the athlete’s funeral, which took place on February 23rd.
Kiptum’s father stated that it was Kiptum’s final desire to construct a house for him before the athlete tragically passed away in a road accident.
When discussing the issue, Asenath Jeruto, the wife of Kiptum, disclosed that the athlete had already outlined the architectural designs for their envisioned home, and these plans were given the green light by the local government.
