Gunman Kills Six, Including Ex-Wife and Stepfather, in Rural Mississippi Town
Richard Dale Crum, armed with a shotgun and two handguns, went on a shooting spree in Arkabutla, Tate County, a small town with a population of a few hundred.
Six people, including the shooter’s ex-wife and stepfather, were killed in a mass shooting in Mississippi.
The murders occurred in multiple locations in Arkabutla, Tate County, a small rural town near the Tennessee border.
Richard Dale Crum, armed with a shotgun and two handguns, shot and killed a man in the driver’s seat of a truck parked in front of a store.
He then proceeded to a nearby residence, where he shot and killed his ex-wife and wounded her current husband.

The 52-year-old eventually returned to his neighborhood, where police discovered the bodies of his stepfather and stepfather’s sister in a neighboring residence.
Two workers were also discovered dead, one in a vehicle and the other on the road.
Crum was taken into custody at the scene.
That is the terrifying part.
Initially, Crum was arrested for murdering Chris Eugene Boyce, age 59, in his truck.
Debra Crum, 60, Charles Manuel, 76, John Rorie, 59, George McCain, 78, and Lynda McCain, 78, are the other victims.
“Everyone has crime, and occasionally we have violent crime, but nothing on this scale,” said Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance. “The frightening part is not being able to pinpoint what caused this”
Witness Ethan Cash reported to WREG-TV that he checked Mr. Boyce’s pulse after hearing a gunshot from inside his residence.
This has been extraordinary.
The Associated Press was informed by Norma Washington that Mr. Boyce was her nephew.
She stated that he and his brother Doug, who escaped the scene unharmed, had been cleaning up an uncle’s estate that they had inherited.
Ms. Washington said, “I have now lost both of my brothers.” “This has been extraordinary.”
Uncertain if Crum knew any of the brothers.
Arkabutla is located approximately 50 kilometers south of Memphis, Tennessee, and is home to 285 people.
It is situated close to Arkabutla Lake, a popular fishing and recreational destination.
April Wade, a resident, stated that the community is so small that most people know one another.
She stated, “I find it absurd.” You would not expect such an event to occur so close to home.
President Joe Biden stated that he and the first lady, Jill Biden, mourned the six victims and prayed for the survivors.
To combat what he termed “an epidemic” of gun violence, he urged Congress to enact gun law reforms.
