Frank Mwiti Appointed New NSE Boss
Frank Mwiti has been appointed as the new CEO of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) Board, and his tenure will commence on May 2, 2024.
Mr. Mwiti is a successful business executive who has accumulated more than twenty years of varied and global professional expertise in areas such as strategy, governance, business development, risk management, corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, and performance enhancement.
He currently serves as the Partner and Eastern Africa market leader at Ernst & Young (EY). Before this role, he held the position of Manager, Banking and Capital Markets Advisory at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
He has also worked as a consultant in investment banking at Deutsche Bank in the United Kingdom.
He established Afrika Kapital in the United Kingdom and served as the CEO and Managing Director. In these roles, he guided Deutsche Bank and Lloyds Banking Group in diverse financial sectors, including forex, equities, fixed income, commodities, synthetics, and listed derivatives, operating in financial centers worldwide.
NSE Board Chairman Kiprono Kittony extended congratulations to Mr. Mwiti for his appointment, expressing that the Board is committed to providing him with the essential support for his success in the position.

The NSE Board Chair also thanked outgoing CEO Geoffrey Odundo “for his dedicated service and stellar performance.”
To facilitate a seamless shift in managerial duties from Mr. Odundo to Mr. Mwiti, the Board has designated David Wainaina as the Interim Chief Executive Officer, starting from March 2, 2024, until May 1, 2024.
Currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the NSE, Mr. Wainaina boasts over 18 years of expertise in the capital market. He has been instrumental in successfully overseeing significant initiatives, including the automation of both equities and fixed-income markets at the Bourse.
