Support Ruto In 2027 For Backing Your African Union Job: Mungatana To Raila
Senator Danson Mungatana from Tana River has commended President William Ruto’s administration for endorsing Raila Odinga’s candidacy for the African Union Commission chairperson role.
According to Munagtana, Ruto has demonstrated statesmanship by advocating for the opposition party leader to become the AU chief.
Addressing the grassroots Oversight Meeting in Hola Town, the Senator representing Tana River urged Raila to reciprocate the gesture by endorsing the president for re-election in 2027.
Mungatana contended that Ruto, who backed Raila’s presidency in 2007, has currently transcended political disagreements by advocating for his appointment to the AU position.

“I want to plead with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga that in 2007 William Ruto supported you in your presidential bid even if you did not succeed, now 17 years later in 2024 Ruto again is helping you to become African Union Commission Chairman we urge you, when the time comes in 2027, you should also give back the hand,” he said.
The Senator emphasized the significance of Raila’s candidacy in regional politics, asserting that Kenya stands to gain greater advantages from his success.
“We would like to congratulate President William Ruto because his government has taken a stand to support Raila to vie as African Union Chairman of the African Union Commission, it’s an important position because it will help us as Kenyans,” Mungatana stated.
He additionally contended that securing a regional position would be challenging without the backing of the government.
Mungatana disclosed that the President has established a National Committee to advocate for regional support from African nations.
