‘Kill’ ‘Kill’- Shots Fired as Gunmen Attack Female Cops in Kasarani

On the night of Friday, February 16, three armed individuals assaulted and robbed two women officers affiliated with Kasarani Police Station.

As per a police document acquired by Kenyans.co.ke, the armed individuals confronted the women officers during their patrol in the Kiwanjani region.

Two of the men restrained one officer by grabbing her hands while the other individual seized the second cop while shouting ‘kill’ ‘kill’.

During the confrontation, the armed individuals took possession of a weapon from one of the law enforcement officers and swiftly departed the vicinity.

The second woman officer, equipped with her rifle, tried to discharge three bullets to control the attackers but didn’t hit her intended target.

“Immediately thereafter a backup team that was on the other side of the road arrived showing force which enabled the robbers to flee without shooting back at the officers,” the report read in part.

A group headed by the Sub-County Police Commander and the Sub-County Criminal Investigation Officer (SCCIO) in Kasarani is currently conducting an extensive search to locate the missing firearm and apprehend the individuals involved.

The event highlights an increase in criminal incidents in the Kasarani area, as residents express their concerns about the deterioration of what was once a thriving community, now plagued by fear and criminal activities.

Jimmy Kimaro, the SCCIO of Kasarani, reported to the media that there were more than 40 instances of suicides, homicides, and unexplained deaths documented in the initial three months of 2023.

“It is a worrying trend,” he stated and promised to heighten security.

As per the most recent findings from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), there was a rise in the number of reported crimes, climbing from 81,272 incidents in 2021 to 88,083 in 2022.

In 2022, the data indicates that Nairobi, Kiambu, and Meru had the highest crime rates among police stations, with percentages of 9.7, 8.9, and 6.5, respectively.
