Uhuru Attends Zachary King’ori’s Burial in Tetu
On Saturday, ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta participated in the funeral ceremony of retired Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police Zachary King’ori Mwangi at Ndugamano grounds in Tetu, Nyeri County.
Speaking at the funeral on Saturday, Kenyatta mourned the deceased as a “true son of Kenya” whose service in the country continues to give hope to many people, years after he retired from the police force.
“Without fear or favour, Kingori Mwangi was a true son of Kenya, a country he served and continued to serve even after he left service in many different ways. He consistently wanted to know what was happening in all facets of the life of Kenya,” he said.
“It is not only you as a family who have lost a father, a brother and an uncle, but Kenya has also lost one of his great sons.”
Kenyatta recalled King’ori as a committed individual, whose influence on the field of education would endure beyond his passing. Kenyatta specifically highlighted King’ori’s establishment of an educational foundation at Strathmore, where he had been supporting underprivileged children.

Therefore, the former president promised a donation of Ksh.1 million to the education fund in memory of King’ori. He encouraged his friends to support the late founder’s initiatives, ensuring the sustainability of the foundation following his passing.
“Despite the adversity that he personally went through, he never gave up; he had that foundation at Strathmore that he continued to support and ask for money…the great things he has set, let us continue. In memory of my friend and brother, I pledge Ksh.1 million into the fund so that it may continue to educate more and more children,” Kenyatta noted.
Simultaneously, Kenyatta promised to take care of the schooling expenses for King’ori’s son, who is presently enrolled at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Additionally, he urged his friends to assist the bereaved family.
“I will also sponsor her brother who is still at JKUAT until he completes his studies. I will also urge other friends that after he finishes, we ensure we give him a chance at a better life future life so he can continue to lighten his father’s memories,” he said.
At the funeral, Kenyatta was accompanied by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga among other leaders.
