Govt Establishes 16 New Subcounties(List)
On February 14, the Ministry of Interior, acting on behalf of the National Government, officially announced the establishment of 16 new sub-counties nationwide through a gazette notification.
Moreover, Kithure Kindiki, the Cabinet Secretary for the Interior, established fresh divisions, locations, and sub-locations across 31 counties.
Kindiki established the sub-counties utilizing authority granted by the National Government Coordination Act of 2013.
The newly established sub-counties include Tarasaa, Tiriki East, Narok Amalo, Narok West, Kambu, Murera, Kerio Valley, Kabras East, and Kabras West.
Others include; Usigu, Suba Central, Suba West, Suba South, Rachuonyo West, Dagoretti North, and Dagoretti South.

In the Gazette Notice, Kindiki mentioned that Suba South and Dagoretti South had previously existed under those names but were currently undergoing a renaming process.
Tiriki East’s main office will be located in Shaviringa, while Amalo personnel will be stationed in Sogoo town, and Ngโosuani will serve as the headquarters for Narok West.
Kambu Sub County, separated from Kibwezi East, will establish its central offices in Kambu, while Murera Sub County’s headquarters will be situated in Toll Town.
Other established headquarters include; Chesongoch (Kerio Valley), Malava Town (Kabras East), Sindo (Suba Central), and Sena (Suba West).
New Divisions
Newly created divisions include; Jibana, Gede, Chakama, Chara, Garsen Central, Fafi, Mugwe, Kathangachini, and Uragate.
Others are; Thagicu North, Kithungo, Kikumbulyu, Kavete, Kikoko,Gakawa, Kabaru, Mweiga, Endarasha, Wamagana and Siyoi.
Kindiki additionally created Meibeki/ Karuna, Tembelio, Embobut, Endo, Lolminingai, Kabirirsang, Kapkoros, Kambiri, Namubila, Mageta, Nyamonye, Kabonyo Kanyagwal, Kanyada West, Kanyada Central, Ruma/ Kaksingiri East, Gwassi North, Kabondo East, Kojwach, Opapo and Kuja divisions.
