Approximately during the same period, Ogina abandoned the station and transitioned to the role of a senior communications officer at the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC), stationed at the National Assembly.

Gossipa2z gathered information from undisclosed sources on Wednesday, February 14, confirming that the journalist is presently giving notice in preparation for his departure.

After departing from Citizen TV, the anchor will take on the position of a communication advisor in the office of Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.

“Mugambi’s new role is set to commence in March,” the media insider aware of developments at Citizen TV stated.

An individual with significant influence in both the media and government, who was well-informed about the happenings, was the initial person to disclose the information during a conversation with Gossipa2z, insisting on maintaining anonymity.

On Monday, February 12, the report indicated that Mugambi and political reporter Cehmutai Goin were planning to depart from Royal Media Services.

“I can confirm to that Mugambi is joining CS Duale’s office while Goin will move to Speaker Wetangula’s office,” the source stated.

Mugambi chose not to answer questions from Gossipa2z regarding his professional life and whether he had given notice, upon being contacted.

The reporter became a part of RMS in September 2016, transitioning from the role of a news anchor at K24, a media outlet owned by Mediamax Network Limited.

At Citizen TV, he climbed the career ladder from being a reporter to becoming a Swahili news anchor. One of his recent responsibilities included hosting news programs such as Sema na Citizen on Fridays, alongside Lulu Hassan.

Mugambi leaving is a significant setback for the station located on Dennis Pritt Road, especially considering the recent departures.

In the past few months, several prominent journalists, such as Sam Ogina, Raquel Mugai, and Francis Gachuri, who now holds the position of Head of Communications at the Ministry of Interior, have departed from the station.

In recent months, several prominent journalists, such as Sam Ogina, Raquel Mugai, and Francis Gachuri, have departed from the station. Currently, Francis Gachuri holds the position of Head of Communications at the Ministry of Interior.

Gachuri left RMS in March 2023 after serving for 16 years.

Alternatively, the station has been hiring reporters from various media organizations in an effort to address the staff departures.

Among the recent additions to the Kilimani-based station are business anchor Jimmy Mbogoh and Jasmine Wambui, both recruited from Standard Media Group’s KTN News.

“To some personal news now, my time at KTN/KTN News has come to an end after what was a very fulfilling year of storytelling. This has been the greatest storm in my life and I’m glad it happened because it has helped me discover myself,” Mbogoh stated while leaving KTN News.ย
