Man Presents Himself to Police Station After Killing Wife & Injuring Child

A man from Samburu Village in Kwale County turned himself into a police station within the Coastal Devolved unit on Tuesday after committing a gruesome murder.

Police reports indicate that the man surrendered at the Kanani Police post where he confessed to chopping his 25-year-old wife to death and injuring his one-year-old child.

The reports further indicate that the suspect was in the company of a friend when he presented himself at the police station.

Hours after the man turned himself in, the woman’s lifeless body was found lying in the family’s living room bearing deep cuts on the head and wounds on her upper body.

Two fingers from her right hand had also been chopped off.

The police report further indicated that the child, who sustained serious injuries from the incident, is currently hospitalized at the Coast General Hospital.

โ€œShe sustained injuries on her head and skull from a deep cutโ€, stated Samburu Sub County police commander Lydia Mambo.

By the time of publishing this piece, the motive behind the murder was yet to be established.

The woman’s body has been moved to the Coast General Hospital awaiting an autopsy to facilitate further investigations.

Speaking to journalists after the incident, the police boss urged couples to solve family disputes amicably noting that there is always another better way of approaching conflict instead of resorting to the extreme.

The latest incident is one of the many cases of love stories turned tragic reported in the country just this year alone.

On Friday a Kenyan man was reported to be at large and fleeing Ugandan authorities after killing his lover in Mangen Trading Centre, Kalait Sub County Tororo District.

According to the authorities, the man fled to Kenya and is yet to be located, even as authorities in the neighboring country launched a manhunt.
