Shockwaves as Citizen TV Suspends Swahili Anchor Swaleh Mdoe From Air
Swaleh Mdoe, the Swahili News Anchor for Citizen TV, has been temporarily removed from on-air appearances.
An insider from the media organization located on Dennis Pritt Road informed Gossipa2z that the news presenter faced suspension for missing the 1:00 pm bulletin on Tuesday, January 23.
For the past three weeks, Mdoe has been absent from the broadcast.
According to our informant, the experienced television personality supposedly underwent a medical examination on the day he was absent from hosting the daytime news broadcast.
On the specified day, the journalists neglected to inform their supervisor, resulting in the editorial director choosing to suspend them.
Upon his return to the workplace the following day, his superiors called him in and prohibited him from making on-air appearances indefinitely.
According to reports, Mdoe has continued to show up for work regularly despite receiving a verbal suspension.

The experienced news presenter leads the Swahili news broadcast during Monday’s prime-time slot at 7:00 pm and also presents the 1:00 pm bulletins on Tuesday through Friday.
He began his professional journey in 1991, gaining diverse experience in both traditional print and electronic media. Throughout his career, he has contributed to various renowned platforms such as Kenya Times, Standard Newspapers, The Message, Weekly Mail, BBC, Nation TV, and KTN.
From 1999 to 2001, he worked as a presenter at NTV. Following that, he transitioned to KTN, where he held the role of a news anchor and supervised the Kiswahili team from 2001 to 2006.
He subsequently transitioned to Citizen TV and has remained a consistent presence on Kenyan television screens since March 2007.
Throughout his professional journey, Mdoe has achieved multiple accolades, including being honored as the Journalist of the Year by the Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ). Additionally, he clinched the News Anchor of the Year (Kiswahili) title in both 2003 and 2004.
