UDA MP Tables Bill Forcing Governors to Adopt Ruto’s Cashless Payment System
Aaron Cheruiyot, the Senate Majority Leader, has revealed intentions to lead the effort in proposing a bill that mandates every county to implement a cashless system, which has been presented in the Senate.
As per the Kericho senator, the proposed legislation will empower county governments to achieve their designated revenue goals.
โWe as Senate will ensure we pass a Bill that will confine all counties revenue collection systems to cashless so that counties can meet their own source revenue targets,โ says Cheruiyot.
Meanwhile, Cheruiyot attributed issues to the existing financial system employed by county governments, asserting that it is susceptible to delays and theft.
He encouraged the people of Kenya to reject cash-based systems, emphasizing that substantial revenue losses are occurring due to questionable receipts.
โWe want a system that is verifiable, traceable transparent, and justifiable,โ remarked Cheruiyot
He has additionally urged Members of the County Assemblies (MCAs) to remain steadfast and ensure that county executives fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

President William Ruto announced on February 8 that the payment of all school fees would be facilitated via the digital platform eCitizen, and this decision was deemed irrevocable.
Ruto encouraged all parents to utilize the government’s payment bill number 222222, emphasizing that it provided a clear and transparent method to prevent school principals from imposing unauthorized additional fees.
โYou may have heard the latest about school fees in Kenya. Some of the money paid by parents in boarding schools, we are insisting that it be paid through e-Citizen,โ Ruto said.
Ruto additionally criticized the cash system, describing it as prone to slipperiness and a breeding ground for corruption that could be eradicated through the use of technology.
Nevertheless, Ruto expressed his comments following the high court’s decision to temporarily halt the execution of the payment system in all national schools.
