Revealed: How Kelvin Kang’ethe Broke Out of Cell & Outsmarted Police in Intense Thika Road Chase

Kelvin Kang’ethe, the murder suspect implicated in the death of Kenyan nurse Margaret Mbitu at a US airport last year, had reportedly formulated a detailed scheme to evade capture from Muthaiga Station, as disclosed by police sources.

As per information from a police report acquired by Gossipa2z, a man who identified himself as Kang’ethe’s attorney visited the suspect on Wednesday afternoon and had a brief interaction before the breakout from the cell occurred.

Assuming it was a routine visit from a lawyer, the police allowed the man to meet the suspect upon his request. Following standard procedure, the officers accompanied the suspect from his cell to the Anti-Crime office, leaving the two individuals alone.

Shortly after, it was reported that the alleged perpetrator fled the office, leaving the attorney behind.

As per the report, Kang’ethe fled during a meeting led by the station’s commanding officer, which included all anti-crime personnel and inspectorate members at her office.

The police report mentioned that the commander received a notification about a loud sound from other officers involved in a high-speed pursuit of the suspect on Thika Superhighway.

Nevertheless, the detectives were unsuccessful in apprehending him, as he skillfully evaded their pursuit.

The Staff Officer Operations (SOOPs) affiliated with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, along with Regional Criminal Investigations Officers (RCIOs) in Nairobi and other high-ranking officers, visited the location to determine the sequence of events.

Consequently, four officers, along with the individual asserting to be the attorney for the suspect, were apprehended and taken into custody.

The four individuals also provided recorded statements that will aid in assessing whether they assisted Kang’ethe in evading capture.

As of the publication of this article, there has been no response from the US embassy regarding the matter, despite their earlier commendation of the Kenyan government for promptly apprehending the suspect.

The individual was anticipating being extradited to Massachusetts to confront charges related to the homicide of Mbitu.
