Kevin Kang’ethe: Man Who Killed Woman In The US, Got Arrested In Nairobi Escapes From Police Custody
Kevin Kang’ethe, a Kenyan individual detained in Nairobi on suspicion of murdering his girlfriend at a U.S. airport, has managed to evade police custody.
The individual, who is 40 years old, is said to be unaccounted for after disappearing from Muthaiga Police Station, where they were held after their court appearance on January 31.
Insiders informed Gossipa2z that an individual purporting to be Kang’ethe’s attorney visited him at the police station, and authorities permitted him to exit the cell and meet with his purported legal representative.
In an unexpected twist, Kang’ethe inexplicably exited the police station and vanished. This reportedly took place at approximately 5 pm on Wednesday, February 7th.
Four officers from the police station, along with the mentioned attorney, have been apprehended as the search for Kang’ethe intensifies.
Kang’ethe is alleged to be responsible for the death of a 31-year-old woman originally from Kenya, residing in Whitman, Massachusetts. Her body was found in a vehicle at Boston’s Logan Airport in November of the previous year.
After being apprehended in Nairobi, Kang’ethe was brought to court through a miscellaneous application, where detectives were permitted to keep him in custody for 30 days while investigations were ongoing.
The court, in holding him at Muthaiga police station, observed that there was no opposition to the application made by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding the gravity of the offense.
Additionally, the Director of Public Prosecutions informed the court that numerous applications, including one for extradition to the United States where the individual faces murder charges, need to be presented.

“There being no objection and because the DPP wants to extradite the suspect and the seriousness of this matter the accused is hereby detained at Muthaiga Police Station matter to be mentioned on 4th of March,” ruled magistrate Zainab Abdul.
As per the investigators, both the accused and the individual who passed away were residents of Massachusetts and reportedly had a romantic relationship.
Initial inquiries suggest that Kang’ethe aggressively assaulted the woman, repeatedly inflicting stab wounds to her face and neck, resulting in severe injuries that ultimately caused her demise.
Additionally, it was informed to the court that upon fleeing to Kenya, the accused concealed himself, maintaining regular contact with his acquaintances in the United States and some of his family and friends in Kenya through different phone numbers.
Margaret Mbitu, who has passed away, was initially reported as missing by BAMSI, a charitable organization based in Brockton, where she worked.
According to BAMSI’s report on missing individuals, the person in question was last observed departing their facilities in a white SUV. US authorities suspect Kang’ethe of being responsible for Mbitu’s death, relying on evidence found in the vehicle registered in his name.
The motive behind the killing is yet to be established.
