Chaos as Goons Attack Kisii Woman Rep Donya Toto at Burial
During a burial ceremony in Ogembo, Kisii, on Wednesday evening, a charged mob targeted the convoy of Kisii Woman Representative, Donya Toto.
Despite escaping unharmed, the government (GK) van transporting staff was not as fortunate, suffering vandalism at the hands of the unruly crowd.
One female staff member sustained a neck injury when a stone shattered the rear screen of the van.
The attack occurred as Toto attended the burial of local contractor Daniel Ondari in Bomachoge Chache.
The hostility erupted when South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro’s donation to the family triggered a reaction from inebriated troublemakers who began pelting the convoy.

Expressing her bewilderment, Toto addressed journalists outside her Kisii town office, questioning the motivation behind the attack over a donation made on behalf of the Majority Woman Representative.
The incident, which transpired at 4:00 pm, saw the presence of Kisii Governor Simba Arati, Bomachoge Chache MP Alfa Miruka, and several Ward Representatives at the burial.
Local contractors and their officials swiftly condemned the violent episode, emphasizing the unfortunate nature of the attack.
UDA Nominee Edna Kwamboka joined in deploring the incident, considering it an unfortunate manifestation of the escalating thuggery in Kisii, and lamenting the negative direction it is taking.
The assault on Toto’s convoy highlights the need for increased vigilance and measures to address rising concerns about security and public safety in the region.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by public figures and the urgency for effective strategies to curb escalating violence in Kisii.
