Azimio Accuses President Ruto Of ‘Several Vigorous Attempts’ To Cause Split
The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party asserts that it has successfully navigated numerous efforts from the Kenya Kwanza administration, led by President William Ruto, aimed at creating conflict and promoting internal divisions within the party.
Addressing the public following a summit convened by Azimio in Nairobi on Tuesday, leaders supporting the faction led by Raila Odinga emphasized the coalition’s commitment to safeguarding itself against external intervention by the government. Their goal is to maintain the coalition’s ability to champion the concerns and well-being of the Kenyan people.
“The coalition has weathered several vigorous attempts by the Ruto administration to create disunity and splits in its ranks. Unity is an achievement the coalition will guard jealously to be able to continue fighting for Kenyans as one united front,” said the Azimio politicians in a joint statement read by DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa.
“Because the coalition has been able to stand up and stand together, Kenyans have regained their voices; and their courage and are standing up to the bullies in this regime. Kenyans are standing up in very remote parts of this country to tell off the government on its lies and its insensitivity to the people.”
Azimio conveyed similar apprehension and discontent regarding various aspects of Kenya’s present situation, pledging to persist in tackling these issues throughout the upcoming year.
“The Summit has committed to seek other ways to press the government to listen to the cries of the people. The litigation will only be one avenue,” Wamalwa noted.

“Other ways are being worked on whose ultimate aim is to force the regime to be sensitive to the tribulations of the people or to enable the people to take such steps as they may deem necessary for the people to rid themselves of this yoke and this regime.”
The opposing political group also reiterated its commitment to rejuvenate and strengthen each of the member parties.
“All constituent parties have committed to pursuing a common program of action that addresses the challenges the country is going through and that also help to advance and defend the gains of democracy,” the coalition said.
“Azimio remains one and is here to stay; committed to shared values that include accountability and integrity in government, public participation, good governance, respect for the constitution and rule of law, social justice, and non-discrimination.”
Leaders from the Azimio coalition present at the summit meeting comprised Raila Odinga, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, Mwangi wa Iria, Wycliffe Opranya, Peter Munya, Jeremiah Kioni, Nderitu Muriithi, George Wajackoya, and Opiyo Wandayi.
Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka, however, did not attend the summit as he is reportedly in Sudan for other engagements.
