Senator Kathuri Exposes President Ruto’s Road Nightmare: Tyre Blowout on Perilous Meru-Embu Highway
Senator Kathuri Murungi from Meru has criticized the Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) following a tire burst incident involving President Ruto’s official vehicle, which occurred after hitting a pothole.
Senator Murungi addressed the gathering in Ntharene, located along the Meru-Embu highway, on Monday, discussing the incident that reportedly took place around noon.
“I felt so sorry for the president kuona gari yake imegonga na imepasuka mguu,” the Senator said on Monday.
“Imagine if we were going downhill na imepiga mguu what would have happened to the Head of State.”
As per the senator’s account, during the incident on Saturday, January 27th, the official vehicle of the president encountered a pothole while ascending a hill, ultimately coming to a halt shortly thereafter.

“With that speed of the presidential motorcade, if we were going downhill, we would now be talking of a very different matter,” he added.
Senator Kathuri is now holding KeNHA responsible for the lack of maintenance on the Meru-Embu highway. He claims that the road has accumulated numerous potholes, creating hazards for both drivers and pedestrians.
The lawmaker urged KeNHA to fix the road and simultaneously elevate certain heavily trafficked KERRA Roads to meet KeNHA standards.
The outspoken senator is advocating for KeNHA to award maintenance contracts to local individuals, asserting that they can promptly facilitate repairs whenever necessary.
