‘I’m Fully Behind DP Gachagua,’ Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro Now Says
Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has clarified that there is no actual conflict between him and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua regarding the political succession in the Mt. Kenya region, refuting earlier reports.
Speaking at a political event on Friday, Nyoro rejected the notion that leaders affiliated with Kenya Kwanza in the region are divided. He affirmed that they unanimously support President William Ruto and his deputy Gachagua’s leadership.
MP Nyoro appears to have assumed a less prominent political role, emphasizing his satisfaction in supporting the nation’s top two leaders. He stated that his primary focus is on enhancing service delivery and advancing the achievements of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“We as members of Kenya Kwanza, all of us, have given our President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua total and unconditional support as they lead our nation,” he said.
“When the two are in front, all of us including me, are the foot soldiers for our leaders. Our work is to support them; we are committed because we have a vision and a plan to take the country’s economy forward. After all, if Kenya succeeds, everyone else succeeds and that is why we support our leaders.”
He added: “I want to assure you even as you come to join the President in taking Kenya forward, all of us as Kenya Kwanza leaders, our focus is work, delivery of services, and economic transformation.”
The candid legislator similarly criticized a local lawmaker for publicly engaging in a rivalry with Gachagua, advising him to show respect to the nation’s second-in-command.

“I want to assure you that if you say you’re my friend, you should also be President Ruto’s friend and DP Gachagua’s friend because in Kenya Kwanza we’re a solid regime and united in service delivery and focused on economic transformation,” he stated.
MP Nyoro’s comments arise in the midst of a purported struggle for dominance in the Mt. Kenya region, where some MPs from the area are supporting the legislator to take over from Gachagua as Deputy President Ruto’s running mate in the 2027 elections.
Even though the President and his deputy have publicly rejected discussions about succession and emphasized their commitment to serving the Kenyan people without being swayed by calls for a change in leadership, Senators Wahome Wamatinga from Nyeri and Joe Nyutu from Murang’a persist in advocating for Nyoro as their preferred leaders.
On Thursday, President Ruto criticized discussions about succession, emphasizing that present leaders should prioritize delivering on their pledges and obligations to the people of Kenya.
“Let me ask all leaders that we focus our attention on the delivery of the assignment given to us by the people of Kenya,” he said.
“Especially leaders in Kenya Kwanza and UDA, I want to ask them to step down any contestations for whatever positions – present or future – so that we can work.”
