Rita Waeni Murder: Police Reveal How Killer Used Stone to Hide Head in Kiambaa

Kiambaa Sub County Police Commander Pius Mwanthi has revealed that investigators found a stone hidden in clothing, allegedly employed as a covering for the head, thought to be associated with 20-year-old Rita Waeni.

Discussing the finding at Kiambaa Dam on Sunday, the police chief clarified that the perpetrator likely employed a stone to cover the victim’s head, to submerge it in the water.

Nevertheless, considering that the head was found drifting near the dam, it appears that the perpetrator’s intended scheme may not have unfolded as anticipated.

At present, only the detectives are privy to the precise dimensions of the stone employed by the alleged perpetrator.

However, it was observed that the head displayed indications of decay, prompting detectives to transport the finding to the City Mortuary for additional forensic examination and identification.

“Upon arrival at the scene, they were able to retrieve the head, Further investigations at the scene showed that it was a human head that belonged to a female.

“It was decomposing. It was wrapped in a purple blouse and with it, we also found a stone. We believe that it was there so that it could sink. It was taken to the City Mortuary for further analysis,” the police boss stated.

However, inhabitants in the vicinity observed that the revelation didn’t come as a shock to them, as multiple corpses had been previously discarded at the dam.

“This dam does not have enough security because it lacks a fence. Some people even come to swim here. That needs to be addressed by the government,” one of the residents stated.

At present, law enforcement is actively investigating potential leads related to the killing of the 20-year-old individual that took place in Roysambu between January 13 and 14.

On Friday, Johansen Oduor, the Chief Pathologist of the government, revealed that they had extracted multiple samples from the deceased individual’s body to determine the presence of any foreign DNA.

The detectives are particularly intrigued by Waeni’s fingernails. Oduor mentioned that the murderer tried to trim her nails to hinder the police from uncovering their DNA.

โ€œWe think probably by clipping the fingers off, the person was trying to hide the evidence so that we fail to get his DNA from this victim,” the pathologist stated.

Police are currently detaining four individuals from Kenya and one from Nigeria in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old. The four Kenyans have been brought to court, but the location of the Nigerian suspect is currently undisclosed.
