President William Ruto has made his way to Teso and is presently participating in a cross-denominational prayer gathering at Machakus Primary School.

The head of state, on his third visit to Busia since taking office from his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta, is joined by leaders representing various political factions.

Following the prayer gathering, the Head of State is set to formally inaugurate the Malaba-Malakisi water and sewerage project, which is worth millions, at Amoni. Subsequently, the Head of State will deliver a speech at a rally in Malaba town.

Afterward, he plans to proceed to Ang’urai, where he is scheduled to speak at another gathering, followed by a visit to Kolanya Girls National School, as stated by Oku Kaunya, the Member of Parliament for Teso North.

Among the officials accompanying the President are Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, Principal Administrative Secretary in the Executive Office of the President Arthur Osiya, as well as Governors Paul Otuoma (Busia) and Kenneth Lusaka (Bungoma).

Additional individuals include Sports CS Ababu Namwamba, Deputy Governor Arthur Odera, and PS Susan Mangeni from the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises sectors.

MPs Oku Kaunya representing Teso North, Mary Emase representing Teso South, Phelix Odiwuor, commonly known as Jalango, representing Langata, and John Waluke representing Sirisia are in attendance as well.

Ruto received an enthusiastic reception from Teso residents, who were filled with anticipation as they awaited the president’s announcement of key development initiatives in the border county.

The initiatives span various sectors, including road construction, water supply, and information and communication technology (ICT), to support the progress of online youth enterprises, education, and healthcare.

Citizens are anticipating an assurance from the president that the economy will stabilize shortly, accompanied by a decrease in product prices.

Ruto committed to a visit during a prayer gathering at Busia stadium in May of the previous year, pledging to return in early 2024 for the unveiling of key development initiatives.

Security has been heightened in Teso as the Head of State kicks off his tour.
