CS Kuria joins Raila at Jaramogi’s memorial service in Kisumu
Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria on Saturday arrived in Kisumu for the memorial service of Mzee Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
The CS arrived shortly past 2.30 pm as the event was ongoing.
Kuria was received warmly by the crowd who appeared excited at his presence at the event.
He went ahead to greet the leaders present including Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
CS Kuria, a diehard supporter and a close ally of President William Ruto, is a fierce critic of Raila.
Mzee Jaramogi, Kenya’s founding Vice President, died 30 years ago on January 20, 1994, in Kisumu.
His memorial service took place at St Stephen’s Cathedral Church in the lakeside city.
Raila, who is Jaramogi’s youngest son, organized the memorial service to celebrate and honor his legacy and place in Kenya’s history.
The opposition chief invited renowned scholars, pan-Africanists, thought leaders, and journalists to speak at the event.

He was born in October 1911.
He was appointed minister for home affairs in 1963, and in 1964 became vice president under founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

“As I stand here as trade CS, I remember the journey of myself, my brother Governor James Orengo, and Senator Oburu Odinga have come from.
“On January 20, 1994, we were here a whole 29 years to bury Jaramogi Oginga Odinga,” he said then during the launch of Siaya County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP)in Siaya.
“A man who instructed Otieno Kajwang to represent me in court and get an injunction that stopped me from being expelled from UoN,” Kuria said.
