Man Captured Jumping From 5-Floor Building in Mombasa
On Monday morning, a distressing event unfolded as a video captured a man, clad in a towel, leaping from a window of a five-story building in Mombasa County.
In the footage captured by locals, the individual was observed standing at the window, surrounded by onlookers who were yelling and pleading with him to refrain from leaping.
In defiance of their appeals, he leaped, making a resounding impact as he landed on the parked vehicles adjacent to the building, followed by a loud thud before descending onto the asphalted road.
At the time this article was published, it remained uncertain whether the man had succumbed to the fall, and the police had not yet provided any comments on the situation.
“Did that man jump from the building?” one of the passersby could be heard asking in the video.
At the same time, onlookers in the building looked down in astonishment from their balconies, observing the man sprawled on the ground.
The regrettable event occurred during a period when Kenyan citizens voiced apprehension about the increasing occurrences of suicide in the nation.

On Sunday, there was a report of a suicide incident as a woman leaped from the balcony of her apartment on the third floor in Lang’ata.
Likewise, in August 2023, an engineering student residing in Mwembe Tayari, Mombasa County, resorted to setting himself on fire in a desperate reaction to the challenging economic circumstances.
The alarming incident was recorded on video, depicting him dousing his body with a combustible substance and then lighting a matchbox.
Despite being saved by the community and the extinguishing of the fire, he eventually succumbed to severe injuries the following day.
