Woman Tricks Homa Bay Man to Travel to Nairobi, Leaves Him With Ksh466K Hotel Bill
A man who journeyed from Homa Bay County to Westlands in Nairobi County found himself apprehended and brought to court on Friday due to his failure to settle a hotel bill totaling Ksh466,965.
As per the accusation presented to PolicalPulseChat, the man asserted that he fell prey to deceitful strategies employed by a female acquaintance. She had assured him of a rendezvous at the hotel.
As per LN, the man was told by the woman to reserve a hotel, assuring him that she would cover the expenses and join him at a later time.
LN responded to the woman’s plea and journeyed from his residence in Homa Bay to meet her in Nairobi.
Following the booking of a room at a hotel in the city, he lodged there for a period of 12 days starting from December 30, 2023, and accumulated expenses totaling Ksh466,965.

After the allotted time had passed, LN notified the hotel staff that he was unable to cover the cost since the woman did not appear.
He was apprehended and placed under arrest at Parklands Police Station. LN faced charges of acquiring credit worth Ksh466,965 from the hotel through deceptive methods and falsely claiming he had the capability to repay, an accusation he contested.
In the court session on Friday, Prosecutor Judy Koech informed Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe that the individual consistently provided reasons for being unable to settle the bill.
The man from Homa Bay requested bail, asserting that he posed no risk of fleeing, and asked the judge for additional time to arrange the payment.
The Magistrate instructed his release on a bond of Ksh400,000, requiring one surety.
Due to the inability to meet the bond requirements, LN was detained at Industrial Area Prison for a duration of two weeks, pending the continuation of court proceedings.
