Narok Senator Ledama Criticises Transport CS Murkomen Over Poor State of Road After Being Stranded Overnight
On Saturday, Senator Ledama ole Kina from Narok voiced his disapproval of the condition of the Loita-Tanzania Road. He criticized Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen for the road’s deterioration due to the ongoing heavy rains, making it difficult to traverse.
In a social media update, the lawmaker shared that he dedicated the entire Friday night patrolling the area. Characterizing the conditions as hazardous, the Narok Senator urged CS Murkomen to contemplate improving the road to bitumen specifications to enhance the daily commute for Kenyans dependent on that route.

“After spending the night on the road from Loita, Narok South, this is what I had to go through to get to my destination,” the legislator remarked
“Very dangerous I must say! This road is a KeNHA international road that links Kenya To Tanzania,” he added.
The legislator posted a video showing a traffic jam, with stranded drivers, including the Senator, attempting to navigate the deteriorated road.
The deteriorated condition of the road provided support for the lawmaker’s argument.

A section of the roadway was completely ruined, resembling a flowing river as water passed through the destruction.
This occurs amidst significant rainfall in various regions of the country, following the advisory issued by Kenya Met last year, which warned Kenyan citizens about the anticipated El Nino rains.
In another part of Kitengela, located in Kajiado County, numerous drivers found themselves navigating flooded roads. Residents attributed the issue to inadequate drainage systems, claiming that they were the cause of water accumulation.
“There is water everywhere, we can not do business as there is water in our kiosk on our roads, and the drainage here is very bad,” Francis Kyalo a resident of Kitengela told journalists.
The Kenya Meteorological Department released a warning advising Kenyan residents that certain areas in the highlands East of Rift Valley, including Nairobi, will experience isolated storms and significant rainfall on Friday.
The anticipation was for substantial rainfall in areas situated to the south of the Rift Valley, certain sections of the coastal strip, and the lowlands in the southeastern region.
Meanwhile, the heavy rains are expected to last until April 2024.
