Residents have been urged to seek shelter and not disregard alerts as one city is bombarded 17 times in one hour. This is the most intense bombardment since the Kremlin invasion began in February.

Across the entirety of Ukraine, air raid sirens have sounded in response to Russia’s sustained attacks on several regions of the country, which have disrupted power supplies.

Explosions have been heard in Kyiv and its environs, and residents have been urged to seek shelter and not disregard alerts.

Kharkiv, the second-largest city in Ukraine, and Zaporizhia were struck by Kremlin-led attacks on vital infrastructure and power plants, respectively.

Additionally, sites have been targeted in the western Ukrainian city of Khmelnitskyi and the central Dnipropetrovsk region.

While Ukrainian air defenses claimed to have shot down several missiles and drones, Russian S-300 rockets cannot be intercepted, according to reports.

Anatolii Kurtiev, the secretary of the city council of Zaporizhzhia, stated that the city had been bombarded 17 times in one hour, making it the most intense bombardment since the beginning of the invasion in February.

In Kharkiv, authorities were attempting to determine the number of casualties and the extent of the damage, with mayor Ihor Terekhov stating that there could be disruptions in heating, electricity, and water supply.

Serhiy Popko, the head of Kyiv’s military administration, informed the populace, “There is a significant risk of a missile attack. I will reiterate: do not disregard the air alert sirens.”

According to military analysts, Russian President Vladimir Putin is hoping Europe’s support for Ukraine will wane as the anniversary of the invasion approaches and Moscow is believed to have launched an expected major offensive to make territorial gains.

Kyiv’s military intelligence agency reported that Kremlin forces have intensified attacks in the partially occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions to seize full control of the entire Donbas industrial region.

Since 2014, separatists backed by Moscow have fought Ukrainian forces there.

The governor of Luhansk, Serhiy Haidai, told Ukrainian radio that the frequency of shelling has increased over the past week to ten days.

The number of daily attacks has increased.

Meanwhile, during a visit to the United Kingdom and Europe, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy pressed for the delivery of advanced fighter jets, prompting a thawing by Moscow.
