Ruto Fires 4 Govt Employees
On Monday, January 8, President William Ruto annulled the designation of four individuals serving on the Board of Directors of the Kenya Railways Corporation.
This information was conveyed in a specific publication of the Kenya Gazette, Volume CXXVIโNumber 3.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed all four government workers to their roles.
โIn exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 (3) of the State Corporations Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, revokes the appointment ofโ Mohammed Alawi Hussun, Dennis Aroka, Catherine Musakali, Sumaiya Salim Mohamed, as members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Railways Corporation,โ the Gazette notice read in part.
The cancellation took place immediately as specified in the Gazette Notice.
Mohammed Alawi and Catherine Musakali were relieved from their positions by the Head of State after completing a three-year tenure of service.
Alawi became an Independent Director on the Board of KRC in 2021 after serving as a commissioner at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Musakali, who assumed a comparable role on the board in 2021, had prior experience in the private energy sector.
Dennis Aroka, who had prior experience at the National Irrigation Authority, assumed the role of an Independent Director on the Board of KRC on July 8, 2022.
In 2022, Sumaiya Salim became a part of KRC and brings expertise in project management, corporate communications, and brand strategy.
Prior to her dismissal, she held the position of Project Manager within the logistics sector, managing projects within the oil and gas, freight, and transportation sectors.
The governing body consists of 10 individuals, headed by Chairman Mohamed Abdi.
Other members include; Njuguna Ndungโu (Cabinet Secretary, National Treasury), Mohamed Daghar, Duncan Hunda, Humphrey Muhu, and Captain William Ruto (Managing Director, Kenya Ports Authority).
President Ruto did not announce replacements for the four revoked directors.
