KEMSA Chair Unveils 4 Key Reasons for Kenya Kwanza’s Ruto Neglect
On Sunday, January 7, Irungu Nyakera, the Chairman of the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA), expressed disappointment that several Kenya Kwanza politicians were disregarding President William Ruto.
Nyakera commented that the lack of attention was exposing the President to potential attacks and criticism from the opposition.
The official appointed by Ruto acknowledged that the current Kenya Kwanza government is implementing positive reforms that are poised to yield results shortly.
“However, we never quite see anyone communicating these achievements, giving the opposition a field day as they focus on the areas the government is failing,” Nyakera complained.
Explaining why Ruto lacked Kenya Kwanza’s support, he pointed out that it was primarily due to politicians who had been given lucrative positions in the government.
The head of KEMSA commented that individuals aligned with Ruto, who secured positions in the government and other official roles, had grown complacent and no longer felt compelled to support the President actively.
Nyakera observed that there existed a second cohort that received rewards but felt discontented with the roles they were assigned.

They believe that the content shared does not align with the hard work they contributed during the 2022 campaigns. Therefore, they’ve chosen to remain silent while Ruto deals with attacks from the opposition.
Thirdly, Nyakera observed that there existed a faction of Kenya Kwanza politicians who backed Ruto but were swiftly overlooked following the triumph in September 2022.
This group has chosen to remain silent because they believe they have been unfairly treated by the leader of the country.
Aside from politicians, this category also includes media figures and bloggers who previously advocated for the President.
“The elected leaders feel the government is not as popular as it was during elections and for that reason they prefer to stay away from publicly endorsing government agenda,” Nyakera spoke of the last reason Ruto is not being defended by his team.
In the past, cabinet secretaries including Kipchumba Murkomen (Transport), Davis Chirchir (Energy), and Peninah Malonza (Tourism) were booed while speaking of the President’s development agenda.
