‘You Have 3 Months, Or Else…!’ Wanjigi Warns President Ruto Against Overtaxation
Jimi Wanjigi, the presidential candidate for the Safina party in the 2022 elections, has issued a stark warning to President William Ruto, cautioning of a potential uprising among Kenyans against the government’s oppressive taxation and punitive policies.ย
Wanjigi, a prominent business figure, stressed that the government must heed the grievances of Kenyan citizens, or else brace for widespread protests against the suffocating tax structure imposed by the Executive.
During his address at the funeral of Safina party Secretary General John Dominic Wamagata at the PCEA Mama Ngina grounds in Kikuyu Constituency, Kiambu County, Wanjigi voiced his concerns about the suffering of ordinary citizens.
He emphatically stated, “Understand that the citizens are suffering, and if you don’t make amends…do not play with the citizens. We are not mice to be trampled upon…we are human beings.”
Continuing his address, Wanjigi highlighted the daily hardships faced by the people, particularly those within the local communities who bear the brunt of these policies.ย

He reminded the government that it was the locals who had entrusted them with power, emphasizing a deadline of January 2024 for necessary changes.
Wanjigi asserted, “You cannot keep hurting us every day, and it is the local people who are suffering the most…and it’s these locals who put you in power. You’ve been given the truth in January 2024; you have three months. If you don’t change this course…be prepared.”
This cautionary statement from Wanjigi reflects the growing discontent among Kenyans towards the government’s tax policies and calls for urgent reforms to alleviate the burdens faced by citizens.
The warning also indicates a looming deadline set by certain factions for the government to address these issues before potential widespread demonstrations erupt across the nation.
