Old Tweets Sent By Cabinet Secretary’s X(Twitter) Account Reveals Ugly Side Of Buying Social Media Pages

The trend of buying an X (formerly Twitter) account from a seller who has amassed a considerable following and no longer wishes to run it has reared its ugly head after one X user unearthed old tweets previously sent by an account that now belongs to a Cabinet Secretary.

The current X handle that belongs to Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Zachariah Njeru now apparently appears to have previously been held by an individual with a penchant for making embarrassing and tasteless jokes about relationships, sex, and women’s private parts.

While the handle now belongs to the CS, a respected member of Kenyan society and a high-ranking government official, past tweets sent by the same @CS_Njeru account indicate a deviation from the normally-official tweets expected by someone of his stature.

For instance, a search on his handle’s search bar reveals that the X account once shared tweets like, “What price… If you have your A game… You get p*sy without a hassle. You won’t tell me sht. Make your own decisions nigga don’t let some other nigga do that for you. Nyinyi ndo hukuliwa madem.”

Other old tweets reveal that the previous owner of the X account was an individual with an inclination to make lurid sex jokes. One old tweet reads: “Lakini sex workers huenjoy in the line of duty (laugh emojis)”

Another one says, “Polisi wanapenda p**sy?”

Over and over, the Cabinet Secretary’s X account reveals even dirtier and more sordid tweets incompatible with the office he holds.

While making the revelations on X, user T. R Okuna asked, “This is why you don’t buy Twitter accounts as a public figure. This is a Cabinet Secretary’s Twitter account!”

The habit of buying social media accounts laden with thousands of followers is a common trend in Kenya with many social media practitioners making a kill out of the lucrative business.

First, they start an account with no particular purpose or goal. They then flood its timeline with controversial material to amass followers quickly. After the account racks up tens of thousands of followers, they now announce that they are selling it and it normally doesn’t come cheap.

By the time of publishing, the Cabinet Secretary’s X account now has over 68K followers. However, unlike many other X accounts, his tweets are protected – which essentially means that you have to be his follower to see what he shares publicly.
