Fatal Buru Buru Shooting Unveils Criminal Histories Of Nairobi Gang

Recent revelations indicate that the four young men who were fatally shot at close range in Nairobi’s Buruburu area have records of criminal activities within both the capital and parts of Kiambu County.

Sources involved in the investigations of the Christmas Eve shooting disclosed to Gossipa2z.com the criminal histories of the four men, which encompassed burglary, stealing, and robberies.

Investigations have also uncovered that the gang has been operating as a group consisting of five individuals.

One of the gang members reportedly escaped death by a whisker as he had traveled upcountry for Christmas festivities.

The gang members, who have had multiple run-ins with the law, were released from Athi River GK Prison on November 27 before their fatal encounter on Christmas Eve, with preliminary investigations indicating a potential gang rivalry as a contributing factor to their deaths.

The pentad, identified by a police charge sheet as 24-year-old Brian Mwangi Kariuki, Francis Kamau Kamanu (27), Ben Mwangi Kinyua (24), Julius Mwikia Mwangi(25), and John Achoka (30) was arrested on April 20 and charged with counts of robbery, stealing and burglary following a January incident.

On January 7, at around 4 AM, the police charge sheet says, THE five reportedly broke into the premises of Kencam Pharmaceutical in Athi River, stealing items worth Ksh.690,000.

A week later on January 14, the gang reportedly raided the Taasia area of Embakasi where police later recovered a club, an electric key lock, a motorcycle key, a sack, and a matchbox.

Police say that the gang was heavily armed and had the intention to commit a felony, burglary and stealing.

On the same day, Ben Mwangi Kinyua was reportedly found in possession of 6 rolls of bhang with an estimated value of ksh.300.

Police have also linked the gang to a September 2022 robbery in Kiambu’s Githunguri area where four persons reportedly broke into rental apartments in the vicinity and stole property worth Ksh.113,000 before fleeing in a vehicle, a pattern consistent with their typical method of operation.

Despite the arrests and charges, their case was withdrawn on November 27 when the complainant failed to appear in court.
