It is believed that a PRESTIGIOUS private school headteacher made a distressed phone call to her sister minutes before she was shot dead by her husband.

Lettie Pattison, Emma Pattison’s seven-year-old daughter, was also killed in the tragedy before her father, George, allegedly turned the gun on himself.

According to MailOnline, the mother’s cry for help to Deborah Kirk prompted relatives to drive to the Pattison home on the grounds of Epsom College in Surrey in the early hours of Sunday.

All three were dead by the time they arrived.

Surrey Police believe George, 39, a licensed shotgun owner, murdered his wife, 45, and their young daughter before killing himself in a double murder-suicide.

A firearm registered to the chartered accountant was discovered at the scene, but officers have yet to reveal the cause of death.

The force confirmed that George was in contact with them just days before the killings to update the address on his gun license as is “routine”.

Despite Emma’s appointment as headmistress in September, the family reportedly only recently handed over the keys to their old home.

George may have remained in the four-bedroom Caterham home while Emma and Lettie settled into their new home, which is thought to be surrounded by properties occupied by other school staff members.

“I wasn’t sure if anybody had moved out because I’d seen George quite recently, in the run-up to Christmas,” one former neighbor told MailOnline.

“He was alone; Emma and Lettie were not present. His BMW 8 Series had been parked in the driveway.”

Because of the proximity of the changes to George’s gun license and the triple murder, the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

“This is an incredibly traumatic incident, and we are working around the clock to investigate and understand the exact circumstances that led to this point,” Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey, Senior Investigating Officer on the case, said today.

“We understand the public’s concern and outrage, and we will clarify what we can when we can while respecting the families of those who have died.

“About the referral we made, we are fully cooperating with the IOPC, and we await the outcome of its assessment of what further action may be required.”

They had only previously crossed paths when he accused his wife of striking him in 2016.

According to The Times, he reported her for the domestic incident but later dropped the charges because he thought it was a minor matter.

‘OUTSTANDING’ TEACHER

Epsom College announced its closure until after the half-term break in response to the possible murder-suicide and the “incredibly distressing” details that have emerged.

“Now is a time for families to come together and try to process this shocking news,” acting head Paul Williams said in a letter to parents obtained by the BBC.

“The impact on your children cannot be overstated, and we are doing everything we can to help them in any way they require.”

After six years as head of Croydon High School in south London, Emma became the elite school’s first female head in September 2022.

The college charges more than £42,000 per year for boarding students, and its alumni include Conservative MP Sir Michael Fallon, broadcaster Jeremy Vine, and comedian Tim Vine.

According to Companies House, her husband George was a chartered accountant and the director of a management consultancy called Tanglewood 2016.

Emma was described as a “wonderful teacher” who “enriched” the lives of her students by her parents and former colleagues.

Late last year, she stated that the transition from her previous job had brought “really big changes” for her family, but that she was “absolutely loving” her time at Epsom College so far.

“It’s been very, very busy, but wonderful,” Emma said on a student-run podcast.
