Tano tena? Why Ruto deserves 10 years of the presidency – Gachagua
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said President William Ruto should be handed 10 years to fully deliver the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.
Speaking during a church service at the Full Gospel Churches in Kenya, Manyatta Constituency, Embu County on Sunday, Gachagua said no one had the ability to complete the work within five years.
“Tunataka mumuombee (President William Ruto), kazi yake tunaitambua, hii kazi inataka miaka kumi ndio ikue kazi ya maana,” he said.
(We urge you to pray for our President, we know his work and we acknowledge it, he needs ten years of presidency to be able to complete his work)
“Hakuna kazi ya maana unaeza fanya na miaka tano. Patieni Rais miaka yake kumi.”
(There is no quality work someone can achieve within five years, allow President William Ruto to rule for ten years)

Gachagua recounted the late President Mwai Kibaki’s tenure, saying when he got into office, his first five years had a lot of issues, but he finished well in his second term.
“Mwai Kibaki term yake ya kwanza ilikua na matatizo mingi lakini kwa ya pili alipanga mambo vizuri,” he said.
“Miaka tano za kwanza ni ya kupanga mambo. (The first five years are for planning)”.
Ruto had in June 2023 said his second term would be meaningless if he didn’t achieve anything in his first term.
“I am not here so that I can have a second term, I am here because I want to make a difference,” he said.
He added that many people have been telling him to constantly think about his second term in office.
“I am focused on the promises I gave to Kenyans, the second term will sort itself out,” he said.
